A "Little Beat" of a story:
Back in 2021, when Conjunto Media Luna visited the San Francisco Bay Area, they didn't intend to discover such a mesmerizing musical portal that introduced them to a wide range of cumbias. This ancient rhythm has traveled back and forth from its birthplace in Colombia to all corners of the world over the decades, including Mexico, where it has taken strong roots and become a part of various traditions, from popular movements to eclectic urban subcultures. Today, after years of struggle and the migration of Latin American people to the United States, a chapter of this musical conversation is now being held in the Bay Area, along with other epicenters like Puebla and San Luis Potosí in Mexico. Although these communities are separated by considerable distances, they are all connected through artists such as Turbo Sonidero, Amantes del Futuro, and the Kumbianet collective, among many other key figures. These individuals are not only involved in music but also in fashion, street art, record labels like Discos Mas, and producers such as El Kool Kyle. The result of these evolutions has spawned several subgenres, including Kumbia Obscura, Kumbia Editada, Cumbia Rebajada, and Low Rider Kumbias. However, all of them share a single psychedelic, yet aggressive, yet nostalgic sentiment that can be felt through the hypnotic sounds of their synths, samples, and drum machines.

This so-called musical conversation has persisted and now opens a new chapter as Conjunto Media Luna invites Turbo Sonidero to remix one of their most recent songs: "Noches de Media Luna," which also serves as the title for the album it is a part of. While it is also a Cumbia song, it originates from another contemporary branch of this genre: the tropicanibalistic sound of Bogotá. These two styles blend in a powerful Kumbiero track that is perfect for dance floors around the world where cumbia has established its unique hypnotic vibe. This includes Vienna, where the headquarters of Little Beat More records is located, and where it will be released in a seven-inch vinyl format for all the rebajado fans out there.
